20th Edition
An international forum for students and researchers
in logic, language, and computation
The International Tbilisi Summer School in Logic and Language is a prestigious event bringing together students and researchers from around the world to explore foundational topics in mathematical logic, language theory, and computation.
Now in its 20th edition, the school continues its tradition of offering high-level courses taught by leading international experts in a welcoming and collaborative environment.
The school is organized jointly by TU Wien, the Kurt Gödel Society, and Tbilisi State University, and takes place alongside major logic events in Georgia — making it an ideal opportunity to engage with a broad international scientific community.
The summer school is supported by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and co-organised by the Kurt Gödel Society, TU Wien, and Tbilisi State University. The aim of this summer school is to bring international and Georgian scientists and students together.

Two decades of logic, language, and Georgian hospitality
The International Tbilisi Summer School in Logic and Language was founded in 2005 by the Kurt Gödel Society as a joint initiative between Vienna and Tbilisi, bringing together mathematicians, logicians, and linguists from across Europe and beyond. Held annually at Tbilisi State University, the school has featured world-class lecturers in proof theory, modal logic, algebra, and the foundations of computation — all against the backdrop of Georgian culture and hospitality. The 2008 edition was memorably described as "a gesture of peace in times of war." In 2010 the school ventured into the Svaneti mountains; in 2025 it moved to Kutaisi for the first time.

Excursion
Our excursion will lead us to the ancient Petra-like stone town of Uplistsikhe — an impressive town dating from the Bronze Age and central to Georgian history. When Tbilisi was in Arab hands, many Georgian Kings ruled from there, protected by its impregnable riverside position. You will see pre-Christian audience halls and living quarters cut in stone.
On the way, we will visit Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia in Roman times, with its cathedral Sveti-Tskhoveli, the religious centre of the country, and the (worldwide last?) museum devoted to Stalin in Gori. The sunset at Jvari Monastery and the Summer School dinner at Cafe Tatin, Mtskheta, before returning to Tbilisi will complete our excursion.
The excursion will start at 8:30 am on Friday, 11 September, in front of the University.
